stress management class

Today, we live in a fast paced world and are constantly stressed out. This affects our behavior and emotional make up. Most people have psychological and behavioral problems which are directly related to stress. Response to this stress manifests in the form of anger. Family life can be disrupted because of a single member’s uncontrollable fits of rage. Anger may be frightening to those who have to live with it regularly. Such individuals require help in the form of therapy to manage their anger. Very often, people struggling with these issues try their best to ignore it by sweeping it under the carpet so to speak and hoping against hope that it will disappear on its own. Refusing to recognize the symptoms and denying that it is a problem may prove to be deadly for the individual as well as the people around him.

The first step towards the treatment of anger related issues is to admit and accept that there is a problem. Finding a suitable course of treatment depends on the individual and family involved. There are many options of anger management therapy to choose from. Counseling sessions with a psychiatrist, joining support groups, attending seminars or attending anger management classes are some of them. An individual may select any form of therapy which he is comfortable with.

An anger management class is one such option. These classes are conducted by professionals specializing in the field of anger management and provide training to persons who wish to learn the techniques of controlling their anger. A part of the curriculum of anger management class could be training in deep breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, yoga and meditation. They also teach the way to deal with anger by letting go of unwanted or negative emotions and feelings. The main aim of the classes is to help people to find constructive ways to channel their anger and control their reactions to stressful or unpleasant situations.

Individuals new to the concept of anger management may feel intimidated by the classroom atmosphere. Such persons may be counseled that the classes are not meant to be threatening; on the contrary they are informal and relaxing and will help them cope better. If nothing, these classes offer an atmosphere of encouragement and support to a group of people facing the same challenge.

So where can one enroll for an anger management class? The first choice could be a government supported social program in your area. Or, you may approach the local community center or a social worker in your locality for information. Last, but not the least, the Internet is a great source for all types of details on anger management. A little research through a search engine like Yahoo or Google will provide the required information. It will offer you the contact details, dates, time and location of anger management classes specific to your needs. There are online anger management classes as well, and these allow you to study in the comfort of your home. Today, with the number of choices available one need not struggle with feelings of rage and misplaced emotions. Help is available aplenty, one needs just to ask.

time management skills

Congratulation for reading this article as you are one of the top ten percent of the population who are taking action to improve their time management skills. Why do you what to improve your time management skills? Is it because of you are overwhelm with your study, your office works or your household works or others? Anthony Robbins said the reason for doing something is much stronger than whatever methods or skills that you are going to learn. Therefore, list down as many reasons as possible before you continue.

Know Your Goals and Objectives
Just imagine you are blindfolded and are required to hit a target with a set of arrows. Do you able to hit the target? Without able to see the target, you have to play with guessing. You have to try many times and are considered very lucky if you ever able hit the target. This is the same in real life if you do not set any goals. You will be wasting your time, trying to figure out your destination. You must set goals in every aspect of your life, such as careers, family, financial, health and extra, as time management is actually life management. Once you have set the goals, visualize the most interesting scenery, the sound or the feeling of the end result when you have achieved them.

Planning and Prioritizing
You need to list down all the steps, plan and prioritize them. If the goals are very huge, break them down into smaller and manageable pieces. This skill is important as you do not want to de-motivate or overwhelm yourself by seeing big goals. Put these steps in your to-do-list. Allow at least 30 percent to 50 percent of buffer time to cater for any emergency or any unexpected events which are unavoidable. Work according to the items in your to-do list as closely as possible till completion. You will feel great satisfaction once you have completed the tasks as per your to-do list. You should be able to complete your tasks much faster in a less stressful way.

Review and Reinvest Your Extra Time
Create a time log and record down your activities on hourly basis. Set one hour at the end of the day to review it. Ask yourself have you making the best use of your allocated time for the day? Is there any activity that you can improve or eliminate or delegate it to others? You should be able to identify any time wasters from it. By regularly reviewing and improving your time usage, you should be able to save at least one hour per day. Reinvest the extra one hour in life long learning, which can further improve your productivity, career, financial, health, family relationship or any other aspects of your life.

Once you have mastered these skills, try to further improve your personal time management skill by picking up another time management tactic from books or seminars and practice it. Always allow certain time period to test the effectiveness of the new skill before making conclusion on the skill. Since time is so valuable, it is worthwhile to invest some time to improve the usage of it.

Are you overwhelmed? Does it seem impossible to finish one task before another plops onto your desk? You need to get organized, and get your work space in proper order. Below I’ll discuss some of the ways that you can lower the amount of paperwork you need to deal with, making you more efficient all the while.

I should first begin by offering my apologies to those out there who consider themselves technophiles, who may find this discussion to be too simple. This column deals mostly with helping make your practice a paperless one; paperwork can definitely make it into your personal life as well. In the age of connectivity, technology which at one time people thought would create leisure time (email, cell phones) have instead become time drains on the overall amount of productive time you have in a day. Every minute of saved time adds up fast. Below you’ll find some ideas which may help you to do just that:

Dual Monitors – Many computers have video- or monitor- out ports which can connect to another monitor. In fact, many of the smaller, high-definition TV sets have a video-in port capable of toggling between cable and satellite and a computer signal. When you set the computer to dual display with the TV as the second monitor, you can double the work area on your desktop. This can be a useful setup feature, not to be underestimated.

Scan and Shred – I’ve literally rid the home office of paper by scanning everything – and then shredding it. The Fujitsu ScanSnap 500 is a slick device which scans everything from PDF files to double-sided documents, exporting the contact data back into MS Outlook. It comes with organization software used for document storage. Be sure to have a good back-up storage device for protection; you may want to check out Iomega or Netgear.

Remote Desktop Connection – By using this Windows communications accessory you can prevent paperwork from being brought home in the first place. Once a computer technician sets up your office network, it’s easy to access files and drives on your practice’s computer from home, doing the work remotely there.

Time-Management Tools – Several software applications can help you keep your day better organized. For example, Franklin Covey’s PlanPlus, an add-on for MS Outlook. This application has modules to set up various life goals, from family to business to personal. Also consider David Allen’s Getting Things Done (GTD) system available at: http://www.davidco.com; this application can help make your time at work more productive.

Project Management Software – MindManager 6 from Mindjet or other mind-mapping software has become indispensable for managing small to large projects at our practice. Our top IT Manager says he can’t function without it. Still, you don’t need to be a computer genius to use this tool; it’s intuitive, making projects simple to follow in visual form. If you’re really obsessed and find yourself shepherding dozens of mind maps, consider a MindManager add-on called Gyronix Results Manager, from Gyronix. This GRM is a dashboard which can handle your mind maps while helping you delegate the who, where, what and when of your project logistics.

Smart Phone – While it is true that no single device can do everything, I have found a PDA or smart-phone to be particularly useful. These devices are cellular phones that run Windows applications and can sync with Outlook on your desktop computer, for access to the Internet, email, and your list of contacts. Some people use the phone connection to get onto the Web, while others prefer to connect through a wireless network with WiFi. Some of the newer versions such as Treo 150W can sync with your calendar and contacts from any location, remotely. Although a bit larger and heavier than a regular cell phone, these devices more than make up for the added weight with increased flexibility.

time management strategy

You are a perfectionist and you can’t help it, but it’s causing you a lot of grief. You just can’t let go of a project and call it done because there is always just one more thing you could do to make it perfect. The problem is almost no one else wants, expects, or appreciates the level of perfection that you demand. You’re expending all your energy on the apex of perfection when everyone else around you just wants ok. Let’s look at some time management strategies to help you get things done.

Set your standards before you start. Identify what things need to meet your standards and what you’re overdoing. Going over and above just puts you farther and farther behind, and few people appreciate your efforts. A good time management strategy for you is to clarify the required quality while in the planning stages before you start anything.

When the final product or service will be used by others you need to make sure you don’t exceed their needs. You may think that everyone wants perfection just like you, but in reality the end user often won’t notice the difference between perfection and good enough, and they certainly won’t value the difference enough to be willing to pay for it. Whether they are paying for it in terms of time, talents, or treasures they want their needs met, but they won’t be willing to pay for things over and above their needs.

You can do most things much better than most people, but there are a few things you don’t know how to do. A really good time management strategy that may be hard for you at first is to delegate and outsource the parts of any project that are outside your skill set or beyond your resources. When you are able to do this you can get the quality you expect without the unnecessary stress.

A final time management strategy tip is recognizing when something is better than nothing. Evaluate when it’s better to just have something than it is to have nothing. Many times when you have nothing because you just won’t let go of a project there are serious negative consequences. A prime example of this is the sales person who can’t hold appointments with clients until they have a perfect presentation. All the while you are striving for perfection you aren’t making any sales which means you have no income. Perfection in this case is a really bad and completely misguided expectation because the best sales people know that you don’t need a “presentation” you need to hold appointments with people and ask questions and listen.

When high quality standards are important you are the go to person. Make sure you clearly understand the requirements and have the resources to carry everything out. Recognize that having something is better than nothing, and before you know it you will find the best way to use this time management strategy to meet everyone’s needs.

improve your time management

Most of us are quite unhappy with god for he gave us only 24 hours in a day. We often crib about never having enough time! Life is like a constant race against time, and time seems to win more often than not. Every night before going to bed we remember all those chores we couldn’t finish because of lack of time! Is it really god’s fault that made the day so short?

Perhaps not, most of us hate to acknowledge the fact but we know that there are quite a few people around us who seem to be quite happy with a 24-hour day. So what is it that these people have? Some special skill or a magic mantra? Truth is, people who don’t crib about lack of time know how manage it.

Managing your time: Self-discipline and training the mind

The key to time management is self-discipline and persistence. Virtues, that are not difficult to develop but require a certain degree of motivation and determination.

The power to stay motivated to stick to a goal lies in the mind. While some people are either naturally programmed or are brought up in an environment which promotes self-discipline, there are others who need to make a conscious effort to acquire this skill. Making conscious efforts to make self discipline a habit requires considerable amount of time and patience. However, one can speed up the process by using the power of the subconscious. Listening to Subliminal messages is considered to be an effective way to influence the subconscious so that it gets attuned to ones conscious desires.

Subliminal messages are suggestions which are the beyond the perception of the conscious mind but can communicate directly with the subconscious. Such subliminal cds can send positive messages into your mind to reprogram your negative behavior patterns and replace them with positive thoughts, and habits which can improve your time management ability immensely.

Learning how to manage our time is perhaps one of the best gifts that we can give ourselves. Not only can this skill give us an edge over others in terms of our career but can also help us nurture our personal relationships.

my time management

What is the best way to develop time management skills?

I consistently find myself pressed for time, and I always leave things till the last minute so I am extremely stressed before an assignment is due or before an exam. Is there any good ways to develop better time management skills?

Your time management skill is one of the very greatest skills of your life, besides walking and talking. Time Management Skills are not so difficult to do, but they are terribly difficult to get. Not because they’re difficult to learn, but because they’re difficult to find.

An effective time management skill requires awareness of where your time goes, and a list of what you want to fill with your time.

Studying requires study time, study skills, and the motivation to keep it up until the exam. And then there are exam tips for managing those precious couple of hours.

College grades and any type of student learning improve when you know how to study better, it’s obvious.

Wouldn’t it be nice?

You can improve your study habits from here forwards. You already probably know a lot of studying techniques. But the stress is mounting, and you want to be efficient.

Consider your reading skill. Any good?

Consider your memory, concentration and mind control.

Have you tried memory software? A good memory system is really what exam preparation is all about.

Student learning is done mostly for the exam. Less so for the real world application. So focus your student time management on learning a memory system. And then put it to use.

My friend Nathan in the UK says in his school exams he was able to revise the entire two year science syllabus because he had everything noted into mind-maps. So it seems mind-maps are an excellent memory technique and help with student time management tremendously.

I use mind-mapping software on a daily basis so this makes a lot of sense for studying and fits quite well with me.

If you want to know more, I’ve answered your question a bit more thoroughly on my productivity blog (see source link below). I expect this might help you in some aspect Cindy and I’d really love to know if it does.

Highest Regards

How much of a difference do they make? They make quite a difference. If you are renovating your home and you have a lot of junk that is getting in your way, a junk removal service will clear out the obstacles for you. However, it is important that you choose a service that will provide you with the services that you need. This is because not one junk removal service is the same. They all get things done differently.

What does a good junk removal service do?

A good junk removal service will not waste your time, will carefully screen all of their workers to make sure your belongings will not be tampered with, they won’t walk off of the job before they finish it, and the workers will have good moral character. That means they should treat you with respect when coming to haul off all of that unwanted junk.

The disposal

The junk removal company should be able to take around 70% of the junk that is retrieved and recycle it. This means that not all of your junk is going to end up in a landfill somewhere where it can hurt the environment. In fact, having a junk removal service dispose of your junk is probably the most responsible thing that you can do because they are going to make sure that everything is disposed of properly.

They may also take pieces of furniture and other salvageable items and have them fixed for use in nursing homes, hospitals, schools, homeless shelters, low income homes, and other uses that give them a second life. Even soil can get a second go around. If the soil is usable, then the junk removal company will donate it to greenhouses and nurseries because they can always use good soil. If you have any green waste, the junk removal will make sure it is placed within lakes and ponds because the aquatic life can thrive on it.

As for what can’t be disposed of is common sense. Anything that is considered to be a hazardous material cannot be removed. This is for the safety of the junk removal service’s workers and for the environment. There is also the fact that they may not have a license to remove hazardous waste. The best way to learn of how these materials can be disposed of is through your local waste management office or a recycling center.

Keep in mind

Keep in mind that there is a cost associated with junk removal and it will depend on what and how much you are disposing of. The service will most likely charge based on volume, which is how much space is consumed in the truck. Some heavier materials such as concrete and plaster may constitute a higher fee due to the fact that they are disposed of differently. That is why it is difficult for a junk removal service to give price quotes over the phone. Nevertheless, you’ll find that junk removal is an affordable and environmentally friendly way to clear the clutter out of your life.
