That’s right, time is the most important four letter word when it comes to managing life! It’s all up to you whether you start using time management tips properly today or face the consequences for the rest of your life. How manage your limited time today, may well shape your future-either positively or negatively.

You may not realize it today, but in actuality, if you do not manage your time properly today, you will have nothing to rely on (both materially and non-materially) tomorrow.

Balancing the pressure of the many daily tasks thrown at us, from studies, work, social events and family, is a difficult task without effective time management. There’s simply a lot to do and very little time to do it.

Naturally, when we neglect even one such area of life, we feel stressed out. The issue here is to come up with ways which we can inculcate in our daily lives so that we can at least start managing our time and observe it’s instant positive impact on our lives. After all, who needs the parasite named stress in his or her life?

So, here are a few time management tips which I am sure will give you practical results if implemented with just a bit of seriousness:

Time Management Tip 1.

———————-

Plan ahead. Have a clear idea of all the tasks you want to perform on a given day. For example, if you have to work on a project, which is due to be submitted five days later, don’t busy yourself with that assignment only for five days.

Instead take a family member to the doctor for an appointment, go through some related reading material or break down the project into small bites while waiting. All the while, keep working on your assignment in bits and make sure that you complete it before the deadline.

Time Management Tip 2.

———————-

Prioritize and chunk down tasks. Once you have planned what you have to do, it is then time to prioritize all those tasks. While prioritizing, it is extremely helpful to write down a to-do list and number the tasks in accordance to what is most urgent or most important, or both. Try sitting down every evening for ten minutes to create a priority list for the next day.

Try writing down only six tasks for a day in the start. Writing too many pointers results in the feeling of being overwhelmed.

Do not forget to chunk down the jobs you are writing in your priority list. Don’t divide your work into over-sized groups.

If a task on the list does not get completed, transfer it onto the next day’s list.

Write each day’s to-do list in ten minutes regularly for 21 consecutive days. If you follow the list, you will eventually become the champ of time management in less than a month!

Time Management Tip 3.

———————-

Stop procrastinating. This is probably the most difficult task, but the reality is that the more you think about how big, monotonous or boring a task is, the more fear sets in. With fear comes procrastination, which in turn, makes your mind go numb. So, don’t think about it, just do it!

If you do not think and just do something, the worst that could happen is that you might fail and if you fail, you learn. Or at least, you SHOULD learn!

Time Management Tip 4.

———————-

Always have the big picture in mind. You need to remember what your vision in life is. If you realize at some moment that you are indulging in an activity, which might prove a hindrance in the way of achieving your vision in life, be brave enough to quit it then and there.

Time Management Tip 5.

———————-

Expect the unexpected. You need to be sharp enough to bring rapid changes to your to-do list in accordance to the situation around you. Panicking never helps.

Remember: There is usually no other option but to carry out a certain task.

Also, often it is the case that it is supposed to be performed by YOU only. When there is no other choice, it is always practical to stop whining and start acting.

Let your time management system capture the nagging little details so that your imagination soars and you become even more creative!

The bottom line – Time is life. Make good use of it!

how to learn about time management and communication skills.?

i am graduate and not doing MBA.

it depends on individual some have it naturally
for communication skills u should join some vocational courses
as far as time management is concerned it is learned over time
first try to finish every thing u do in a given time frame even the silliest thing u do.
then at night make short notes on what u have done that day check if u have wasted any time and try to minimise that.think of a better way of doing things which save time but do not effect the quality.
remember unless u r accustomed to it in ur daily life u cannot use it in ur exam

We’ve all been there – staring at a ‘to do’ list as long as your arm, the clock ticking whilst precious minutes ebb away as you waste time wondering where to even begin. Armed with some simple techniques you can change the pattern and stop procrastinating to reclaim control over your time and make sure you use it efficiently.

Write a ‘to do’ list

Making a list of everything you need to do, and when the deadlines are, will help you to feel less overwhelmed and ensure that you don’t forget important tasks or miss deadlines. You should re-write your list as often as needed to make sure that it is always up to date.

Prioritize all the tasks on your ‘to do’ list

Once you have your ‘to do’ list, you need to sort out which tasks are urgent, which are important and which are less important. Categories every point on your list as priority 1 through to 4, based on how urgent and important they are. This will help you to clarify which tasks you need to tackle first. Make sure you reprioritize your list regularly as you tick off actions and additional tasks are added.

Stop procrastinating

Ask yourself what you are avoiding. Start with the tasks you are dreading to get them out of the way, and break larger tasks down into manageable chunks.

Avoid constant interruptions

Much time is lost through the constant interruptions which life throws up. To regain control of your time, let people know when the best time to contact you is – in a polite and constructive manner. Equally if you are going to be concentrating on an important task, let those around you know in advance that you will be busy at that time.

Set yourself a routine and stick to it

As well as letting the people around you know when best to contact you, create a routine for yourself based upon the times of the day you are most productive. If you feel sluggish in the mornings use the time to check your post and emails or do other routine tasks. If you are wide awake after lunch, schedule in the activities which demand the most brain power.

Learn when to say ‘no’

Taking on too much of other people’s work or trying to please everyone can have a serious impact on your efficiency. Take time to think about your role, what you can say ‘no’ to and what jobs you can delegate to other people. When delegating, provide clear actions, guidance and deadlines and make time to clarify any questions.

Plan ahead

Stay one step ahead by looking at the forthcoming week, month and quarter so that you can anticipate large jobs and plan them into your schedule in advance.

Reign in meetings

Meetings can be one of the biggest time consumers if they are not chaired properly. The best way to manage people who are happy to talk all day is to set an agenda with time slots allocated against each point, and circulate it in advance. Then in the meeting remind people of their time allocations and make sure they stick to them.

Use unproductive time

It is inevitable that time out of the office eats up into productive time, for example, whilst waiting for a meeting to begin or traveling on a train. It is well worth considering whether you could use some of this time to review notes or catch up on reading.

Time Management Course

Working late all the time, finding it hard to meet deadlines and constantly feeling stressed? Then these courses are for anyone battling it out with time management issues. A time management course can help you to manage time, set and achieve goals, prioritize tasks and manage resources effectively.

poor time management

From my experiences I have found that poor time management can really impact heavily on various areas of your life. The thing is, poor time management is not something that just springs up on you: if you are always late with deadlines, meeting friends or loved ones, or just generally struggling to find enough hours in the day, then the chances are that you have a problem with how you manage your time.

There are many things that you can do to manage your time more effectively – many of which do not even require significant expense or changes to your lifestyle.

One of the most simple and effective ways of overcoming poor time management is through the use of a day planner. Day planners can take many forms and vary in terms of complexity. At their most basic level, day planners serve as timetables which enable you to pencil in tasks which you intend to do at various times in the day. I have found that a small diary-like pocket book has worked best for me as I can carry it with me at all times.

However, a day planner is not a magic cure for poor time management and you will need to develop some good habits which will enable you to use it effectively. You have to plan proactively – determine what your key priorities are (and when you need to do them by) and ensure that you have pencilled them into the planner. I tend to you use mine as a checklist, and cross off tasks as I complete them. This gives me a very clear indication of how effectively I have managed my time at the end of each day.

When you plan your tasks it is also important to be realistic about how much time you have allocated for each one. I have tended to manage my time most effectively through blocking out chunks of time for each task rather then being too specific, although how you chose to allocate your time will vary according to how disciplined you want to be – a more flexible approach has worked better for me.

So, if you are really struggling to take control of your time then a day planner could be the first step that you can take towards becoming more organised. I would also strongly recommend that you also check out the various blogs, websites and resources on the internet dedicated to self improvement and organisation.
