1. Daily Task Planning
At the end of the work day, take the time to review the day’s accomplishments, cross them off of your list and plan your work for the next day.

Where can I find free to-do list software with a good interface?

I’m looking for some good, free to-do list/ scheduling/ calendar software.

I like to use a site called version tracker (www.versiontracker.com) I found a calender program made by mozilla that you could try called Sunbird. I also like to use the yahoo widget engine with a to-do widget so I can always see what needs to be done right on my desktop.

Earning your degree online is very rewarding to you and your career, but it can be quite the challenge. It takes a lot of responsibility and effort. One of the keys to success is time management and organization. Here are some tips to stay organized and manage your time en route to your online college degree.

1. Get a daily planner

Organization is as simple as writing down what you need to do. Buy a daily planner and write down what assignments you might have due or exams you might have to take for each particular day. Jot down any readings that are suggested by your instructor. Look at your planner every day and you will remember to do your assignments for your online classes, read your books and study for your exams.

2. Print out your schedule

To stay organized, you should get accustomed to a typical everyday schedule. Do you work? Type in your typical work schedule or the schedule that you will be working for that week. If your schedule might not be the same each day, you might have to make a new schedule every week, but this will help you to stay organized. After you figure out your work schedule, set aside several hours per day for each online class you are taking and follow that schedule. This will help you learn every single day, so you won’t have to cram the day before the test, which is not an effective way of learning. Print your schedule, and you will be organized and on your way to your online college degree.

3. Buy binders to keep papers organized

At times, some professors get a little assignment happy and give you task after task to ensure you are retaining the information. To keep all of your assignments in order, simply purchase a three-ring binder. By putting your assignments for a particular class in a binder, you can go back to them if you need to use them for other assignments or exams. You can find binders almost anywhere, and most can be purchased for only one dollar. But a binder for each online class will save you a ton of time and help keep you organized. A binder might seem like a small piece, but it helps build the finished product that is the online college degree.

4. Schedule studying times

This goes along with printing your schedule, but it can not be reiterated enough. Many people pay to have counseling or tutors lay out a schedule for times that they are able to study every single day, and you can do this by yourself! You can open up a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel (this program is included with Microsoft Office) and create your own program, or you can use a template to make your own calendar with times, dates and study availability. It is very simple to do, and you will gain a great advantage. Scheduling study times and abiding by them will greatly increase not only your grade point average, but your overall retention of knowledge.

5. Set goals and abide by them

Setting a goal and sticking to the plan you lay out is the key to succeeding not only with taking an online class, but in life. If you learn to set goals and achieve them while earning your degree, you will be able to do the same in your job after you graduate from college. Setting goals and achieving them are what many managers and supervisors are looking for in an ideal employee, so following the goal structure will help you with your current objective, and in the long run.

Follow these five steps toward organization and time management and you will be well on your way to an online college degree.

When it comes to media relations or public relations, most business executives want to be on the cover of the New York Times.  However, as many politicians and CEOs will attest to, being on the cover of a newspaper or magazine may be as negative as it can be positive.  Building a relationship with the media is important, both for the major stories that can possibly happen and the minor everyday stories that happen on a regular basis.  While the media can be tricky, and even on attack mode lately, like all industries they operate on trust and relationships and establishing credibility with them is an important task.  Establishing credibility can have a profound impact upon the success of any political campaign, press initiative or marketing campaign.

It’s important to be media friendly.  Being media friendly involves being responsive, listening, answering questions and simply being available to the media should they call or contact you.  If you can position yourself as a resource, meaning if you can position yourself as someone who not only wants to get into the papers, but who can also offer important information on other stories, you can go a long way towards helping build trust with the media.

You should also be sure to give you media person or contact the tools to be helpful.  One thing the media hates is a press person who is basically a glorified receptionist, simply answering phones and passing messages along.  Having someone with quality communication skills and who has the knowledge to at least give the media a taste of what they want will make you and your company a far more attractive target for quality stories than the alternative.  Most people overlook their public relations people, but good public relations can benefit you, and offer quality reputation management.

Probably the most important tool for reputation management today is the Internet.  Using your Website, e-mail and other Internet tools will give you quality reputation management at a relatively inexpensive price.  Offering quality information on your Website, using your e-mail quickly and effectively and utilizing other Internet tools such as Digg, Twitter, Facebook and others will give you the kind of online reputation management that will benefit you in the short and the long term.

You should also embrace a policy that increases your transparency.  The media loves to report on stories where a company is seemingly hiding something, even if that isn’t the case.  If it seems like you’re unwilling to answer questions, or that you are trying to keep certain stories from hitting the press, the media will pick up on that and sometimes create a story out of thin air.  This will obviously damage your reputation.  Good reputation management sometimes involves commenting on your own mistakes and errors, and allowing your staff to admit mistakes and apologize when appropriate.  This isn’t always easy, and every once in a while someone may say too much, but if there’s nothing being hidden you won’t have to worry about a 20/20 exposé.

How It Works: Email and PIM synchronization is the next best thing in email since the invention of the IMAP protocol. Through a technology, now known as “Push Email”, the tables have turned on email servers and clients. Normally, the client (desktop or mobile) would connect to the server and log in with the account credentials. Once the authentication is complete the client would poll the account by asking the server if any new messages are available.

As opposed to this, Push email instructs the server to instantly notify the client when a new email arrives. The main difference between these two approaches consists in the fact that the server will always know when a new message exists, while the client does not and has to check for them in a timely fashion. Push email is also much more economic in terms of data transfer amount and bandwidth usage. Establishing a single connection and maintaining it in an idle state is a very relaxed way to help the server contact the client whenever required.

Almost the same thing happens when speaking about PIM database synchronization. Appointments, tasks, notes and all of the data stored as PIM information are translated into email objects formatted in a special way, so that the contents can later be interpreted appropriately. So both emails and PIM data rely on the same standard and look a lot alike, despite some major differences that will not be detailed in the present whitepaper. What needs to be remembered is that from an email server’s perspective, the above mentioned objects are considered emails in the general meaning of the word.

3. AXIGEN Mobility Services
At this time, quite a lot of PIM sync and email pushing technologies exist and they are all implemented differently, even though they perform the same task. By far, the most popular technology, used world-wide, is Microsoft’s ActiveSync protocol. Therefore, AXIGEN has chosen to first implement support for this specific technology in order to reach and provide this feature to the largest base of users possible. The series of mobile devices and handsets that support the ActiveSync protocol includes Nokia / SymbianOS devices, Windows Mobile (since 2003 up to latest version), Apple iPhone and other devices that can have compatible software installed.
