Sonic the Hedgehog, the famous video game character created by Sega has been very popular amongst both gamers and non-gamers. The collective liking of the Sonic character has a lot to do with Sonic’s appearance in other media. And such appearances have in turn inspired people to create things related to Sonic and these creators aren’t always gamers by nature. They may be artists, musicians or even clay model makers. They have loved and adored this spiky hair Hedgehog who can only be seen in blue.

Push, Row, Pull, GO Recently I have read three great business books that have helped me further refine my business and life philosphies. As I’ve said before, reading is just so damn powerful. The books are Ready, Fire, Aim (Masterson), Getting Things Done (Allen), and The Seven Habits of Higly Effective People (Covey).

Bob Herbert has a plan, complete with dreams:I’d like to see the president go on television and, in a dramatic demonstration of real leadership, announce a plan geared toward increasing employment that is both big and visionary — something on the scale of the Manhattan Project, or the interstate highway program or the Apollo spaceflight initiative. My choice would be a “Rebuild America” campaign that would put men and women to work repairing, maintaining, designing and rebuilding the nation’s

practical solutions to life’s biggest challenges with Andy Botwin and Renzie Baluyut. Whether you’re living solo, or happily married with a wife and kids, there simply is no excuse for a terrible sense of personal hygeine. Ms. Collins, in “What Happened in Vegas,” says the John Ensign sex scandal has become even more fascinating because every social conservative in Washington seems to have been involved. Mr. Herbert, in “The Human Equation,” says the crisis staring America in its face and threatening to bring it to its knees is unemployment. Here’s Ms. Collins: The reason the Republicans lost so many Senate seats last November is now becoming clear. No one had any time to think about the campaign.

For the win, as the kids say. I’ve got the certificate and the pin. I have emerged. It’s more like leveling up in an RPG or PVP. Congratulations elven mage! You have earned the requisite number of hit points. Here are more skill points to spend in the areas you see fit. Also, have some tokens and gold. All joking aside, it went well. I’ve taken video of our poster session on the Flip camera I borrowed from IT. Now I just have to figure out how to upload it. That may have to wait until I’ve come home. I love the Flip, though, and will be saving up for one asap.

I friend of mine is constantly preaching the wonders of the Getting Things Done (GTD) task management methodology. He even convinced me to spend countless hours writing a web-based calendar app that supports complex event types, scheduling the various actions required by specific event participants and keeping all these calendar entries tied together, but that’s fodder for another blog entry. My friend’s enthusiasm for GTD finally wore me down and yesterday I decided to give GTD a shot using an iPhone app called Pocket Informant .

Dispatch A teacher once told me that once your idea has been released, it can never be taken back. It became a powerful thought to me as I contemplated its philosophical meaning, and with Bentley Little ’s book Dispatch , it seems especially relevant. In Little’s novel, protagonist Jason has a gift for getting things done with his letters. It seems the old-fashioned way through the mail, without email, works best, and soon Jason is using his unique “talent” for much more than just free movie tickets.
